The short version
Who this house is for
Somebody who wants a full medical work-up and a longevity programme built on its results, at the property that has defined this category since 1931 — and for whom the price is not the deciding factor. This is a clinic with a hotel attached rather than the reverse, and the medical side is the product.
The signature
The Revitalisation programme, and the in-depth medical check-up weeks built around imaging, bloods and consultant review.
The setting
Montreux, and what is practised here
An Alpine meadow above the valley — Montreux An Alpine lake and a rowing boat — Montreux A mountain lake in the high Alps — Montreux
These photographs show Montreux and the disciplines practised at this house. They are not photographs of the property — we would rather show you the place honestly than dress a stock picture up as a room you have not been sold.
What it is known for
Why this house has the reputation it has
- Founded in 1931 by Dr Paul Niehans, whose cellular therapy drew a mid-century clientele of heads of state and film stars and made the category famous.
- It operates today as a licensed clinic combining a medical centre, medical spa and hotel, with a separate outpatient medical arm.
- Reported to employ over fifty physicians and specialists — a diagnostic depth almost nothing else on this site matches.
- Ninety years of continuous operation on the same lakeside site, which in this field is unique.
What we would tell you on the phone
Niehans’s original live-cell therapy never accumulated credible controlled evidence of anti-ageing efficacy, and the modern proprietary extract is likewise unsupported by published randomised trials. What is well supported here is the diagnostic work, the nutrition and the exercise prescription — most of which a competent health system will do for you at home, more slowly and for a fraction of the money. We profile the clinic; we do not sell the infusions.

Categories and names are as published by the property and are confirmed in writing at the quote. Where we would take a different room from the one the programme is quoted in, the note says so.
Wellness at Clinique La Prairie
Who is actually here
A large medical staff — physicians across internal medicine, cardiology, nutrition, genetics and physiotherapy, with an on-site laboratory and imaging. Programmes open with several days of diagnostics before anything is prescribed, which is the distinction between this and a spa selling supplements.
We do not publish clinicians' names anywhere on this site. They move, which makes a named page quietly untrue, and naming one invites you to book a person no house can promise will be on shift — assignment is made on arrival, from your examination. What is worth knowing is how many there are and what they hold.
What the building contains

At the table
Eating here
On a prescribed programme the food is part of the treatment rather than a choice — which is worth knowing before you arrive expecting a wine list.
- The restaurant
Longevity-focused menus built around the diagnostic results, with a serious kitchen behind them.
- The lounge
Lighter meals and the between-programme food, on the lake terrace.
