How long
Fourteen nights, timed to a specific phase of your cycle — which is why this is one of the few programmes where the dates are decided by your body rather than your calendar.

What we are treating

We are trying, and I want to give my body the best possible chance.

The concern where we are most cautious, because it is the one where people are most vulnerable to a confident promise.

Ayurveda has a long-established preconception framework — the classical texts treat the preparation of both parents as the substance of the discipline, and the modern protocols centre on cycle regulation, digestive repair, sleep, weight and stress, because those are the levers that are actually available.

Every one of those levers has an independent evidence base for reproductive health. None of them is a fertility treatment. A residential fortnight that fixes your sleep, moves your weight towards the middle of the range, lowers your stress load and regulates a cycle is doing real and useful work, and it is not doing IVF.

We will book this, and we will say all of the above on the phone before you pay. The houses that promise conception are not on this site.

What actually helps

  • ayurvedaCycle-aware protocols led by a physician qualified in the women’s-health branch, with attention to digestion, sleep, weight and the nervous system — and a preparation phase for both partners where both are travelling.
  • yogaRestorative rather than intense. Strong heated practice and aggressive fasting are both counterproductive here and a good teacher will say so.

What a programme actually does

  • A consultation that asks for your cycle history and any investigations already done.
  • A gentler programme than you may be expecting — this is a rebuilding line, not a purification one.
  • Attention to your partner as well, where both of you travel.
  • Realistic language, throughout, and no timeline offered.
  • A protocol for the months after, which is where preconception work actually happens.

Kerala. For treatment the monsoon is the season — not despite the rain but because of it. Humidity keeps the skin and channels receptive to oil, the air is cool, and Keralans have taken their own annual course in this month for centuries. March to May is the part to avoid: 35 °C and humid is a poor climate for daily oil therapy. The brochures sell January because January photographs better, and it costs a great deal more for a less effective fortnight.

What we would tell you on the phone. This is not fertility treatment and it does not replace a fertility clinic. If you have been trying for twelve months — six if you are over thirty-five — please see a specialist, and do that in parallel rather than instead. Purification therapies are contraindicated once you are trying to conceive in a given cycle, and several herbal preparations must not be taken alongside fertility medication. Tell the physician everything.

Asked and answered

Questions we actually get

Is the monsoon really better, or is that a way to sell the low season?
Both are true and we would rather say so. The classical rationale predates tourism by centuries — Karkidakam is the treatment month in Kerala’s own calendar. It is also when properties are empty. Our position: the season genuinely helps, the discount is real, and if you hate rain you should come in October and lose very little.
Can I do a proper Panchakarma in a week?
No. Preparation alone runs three to seven days before the main purification, and the rebuilding phase afterwards is where the benefit is consolidated. Fourteen nights is our floor. With only a week, take a shamana programme — a real treatment on the gentler line — and we will say so on the invoice.
What does a state Ayurveda classification actually prove?
That Kerala Tourism inspected facilities, hygiene, therapist training and physician presence against a published checklist, and may re-inspect without notice. It is a useful signal and it is not a clinical accreditation — ask for the resident physician’s BAMS registration number too. Note the scheme was renamed: Ayur Silver, Gold and Diamond replaced Olive Leaf and Green Leaf, so older certificates cite retired grades.

Not sure this is the right list?

Tell us what is actually wrong and we will shortlist three houses — or tell you that Kerala, India is the wrong answer, which happens about one enquiry in six.
